AEPA Speaker Series – Quality in the Early Years & Childcare Sector at Risk?

Tickets for our next Speaker Series event on Thursday 26th January are available now, with details of the event and member tickets available here

We are delighted to welcome Mireille MacRaild, Director of Education Services for Early Years at HFL Education and Alex Gamby, Director of Business Support Services and Head of Early Years and Childcare with The Education People.

Mireille MacRaild currently leads the early years advisory team which supports schools and early years registered settings to develop high quality provision and improve outcomes for young children. She has led a range of funded initiatives which involved working with leaders in schools and settings to drive quality improvement, latterly focussing on transition and early communication and language skills.

Alex Gamby is a teacher by profession, having taught in London schools for children and young people with special educational and disabilities in the 1980s and 1990s. Since then she has held various local authority based senior leadership roles in the early years and childcare arena, including a period of secondment to the (then) Department for Education and Employment. Alex is currently responsible for, in Kent, ensuring and supporting a sufficient, sustained, high-quality and inclusive early years and childcare market.

This event will explore the current challenges facing early years and childcare providers and their potential, adverse impact on the quality of provision and by implication, children’s futures. We will consider the challenges themselves, if and how these are adversely affecting quality and some possible responses and antidotes to this.
